Pricing Philosophy

We live by our mission statement: Plateau Valley Animal Hospital strives to deliver exceptional care at an affordable cost while always prioritizing the personal bond between doctors, clients, and patients.

We treat our clients like friends and neighbors because, in our small towns, that’s exactly what you are. Our pricing philosophy has always been to provide quality services at a price our small town clients can reasonably afford. We believe in keeping things simple, fair, and upfront. We offer competitive office and service call fees, along with significantly lower prices on most major services. We strive to provide:

No hidden fees or add-ons. We don’t tack on a bunch of individual charges or surprise you with unexpected costs.
Estimates you can count on. We give you a realistic price range based on what we expect the job to involve.
No work without your approval. We’ll never go over the quoted price or do extra work without talking to you and getting your approval first.
Options that work for you. We’ll walk you through your choices so you can decide what makes the most sense for your needs and budget.

Fees

We like to be transparent about extra fees, so here are a few you might expect in special circumstances.

Telemedicine Fee: Applies to remote consultations via phone, video, or text. It covers the doctor’s dedicated time to review medical records and/or provide professional diagnostic or treatment advice, similar to an in-person exam.

No-Show/Late Cancellation Fee: Assessed for missed appointments or those canceled with less than 24 hours' notice. If you cannot make your appointment, please call us by the end of the previous business day to avoid this charge.
Urgent Care Fee: Applies to same-day appointments "squeezed in" during regular business hours. This fee covers the logistical adjustments required to prioritize your pet's urgent medical needs.

Emergency Care Fee: Applied for after-hours services, whether in-clinic or as a farm call. This fee covers the time and resources required for a veterinarian to make a special trip to provide care outside of normal business hours.
