Plateau Valley Animal Hospital opened in Collbran in 2009. The inspiration for the Rifle (Silt) clinic began in 2019 when Dr. Dennison met a farrier who had a lame horse in Silt. The farm call to treat the horse introduced him to Kelly, who was a groomer and vet tech. Because they recognized a need for veterinary services in the Silt/ Rifle area, Kelly rented Dr. Dennison space in her grooming room and managed the Silt clinic. By 2022, the practice had outgrown the grooming room, and PVAH moved into an off-grid tiny house on Kelly's property. When the current building became available in Rifle in July of 2024, the practice moved again to allow for expansion (and the convenience of electricity).

After Hours and Emergency Care
We are committed to supporting our clients during emergencies and are actively working to expand our 24/7 emergency availability. However, as a small clinic with limited staff, providing around-the-clock care at both of our locations is very difficult.
- Regular Business Hours: Please call us if you have an emergency during regular business hours, and we will do our best to schedule an appointment or arrange alternative care.. The Rifle Clinic is open on Saturdays, too!
- After Business Hours: For emergencies in the evenings or on Sundays, please call the office for instructions. A doctor is available on-call through our emergency number.
- If We Cannot Be Reached: If we can't be reached or are unavailable, we recommend contacting Animal ER of the Western Slope (Grand Junction) or Valley Emergency Pet Care (Basalt).
